Zach's Mannerisms[]

Many of the more subtle jokes and language tics featured in Smiling Friends are directly based on Zach's general speech patterns. This includes, but are not limited to:

  • "Iconic"
    • One of Zach's iconic mannerisms is describing things as "iconic", usually traits completely unrelated to the subject[1], this has made its way into Smiling Friends in multiple iconic instances.
  • "Wehehehe"
    • A phrase from the extremely obscure South Park parody animation named "LOUD JUNK" uploaded in April 2000. In which the characters Lardman, Stain, Fenny, and Dull all laugh using an identical audio clip of an unusual snickering laughter overlaid on top of each other.[2][3] The phrase sees occasional reference on OneyPlays, especially from Zach.[4]
      • In "Frowning Friends", DJ Spit shows Charlie and Pim a snippet of his latest song, in which he can be heard laughing in a very similar manner.[5]
  • "Erm"
    • Zach often uses "erm" as a filler word for when he's acting as awkward or gross characters.
  • "*Verb*"
    • Both Zach and Chris O'Neill use asterisk text as if they're roleplaying on an old internet forum as a joke. This was used in the episode synopsis of "A Allan Aventure."
  • "Knock their Block Off"
    • Zach has a tendency to say he wants to knock someone or something's block off, which slowly escalated into more violent descriptions like "I wanna punch him in the jaw" and "I wanna saw this guy's head off". Coincidentally, in A Allan Adventure, after Mr. Landlord asks Allan to hang out for the second time, Alan uses the specific threat "How about I come knock your block off and take those paperclips from you".
