The Flying Meepling is a restaurant located in Meep County, Pennsylvania. It appears in the episode "Brother's Egg."
Description[]
The Flying Meepling is casual dining restaurant that bares resemblance to Red Lobster. While customers can order off a menu, patrons may instead dine on the various live flying creatures — the titular "meeplings" — that zoom across the restaurant. The object is to grab the meepling, twist their body apart, and eat the meat that falls out of them with a variety of dipping sauces. The remains of the meeplings can be discarded on the restaurant floor, where they will eventually be swept up by the staff.
History[]
In "Brother's Egg", Charlie took Professor Psychotic to The Flying Meepling to discuss the latter's future after being kicked out of his home by his brother, Doug. Charlie, an apparent regular customer, teaches Psychotic how to catch and consume a meepling. Charlie convinces Psychotic to establish a relationship to forget about his scientific endeavors, though Psychotic's attempt to hit on one of the waitress results in him terrifying her.
Trivia[]
- Many fans have questioned why The Flying Meepling has a waitstaff but it is likely that the restaurant has a separate menu, and that patrons do not have to engage in the meeplings. There is also likely stuff such as drinks for them to serve and refill as well.
- The Flying Meeping appears to be a reference to casual dining restaurants, like Red Lobster and Texas Roadhouse.
- The discarding of meepling carcasses on the floor could be a reference to how Texas Roadhouse used to allow their patrons to throw the shells of their complementary peanuts on the floor. This practice has been discontinued in recent years due to health and safety codes.
- The practice of dining on a meepling is similar to how steamed lobster is eaten from the shell, though it is far less complex.
