Smormu was a minor character in Smiling Friends who makes his first appearance in "Mr. Frog", but he was part of the plot of the episode "Shrimp's Odyssey." He was the short-lived fifth member of Smiling Friends Inc., earning the role after a very divisive voting period that split the country in two.
Appearance[]
Smormu was a small, light blue Critter with a large nose, short arms and small eyes sitting atop his head. He was a little bit chubby. In death he took on a deathly pallor, and appears to have visible bruises.
For clothing, Smormu wore his iconic pink shirt with Hillary Clinton's 2016 presidential election slogan "I'm With Her" on it, yellow shorts, and white sneakers with an orange strap and blue tongue.
Personality[]
Smormu was enthusiastic to an almost grating degree. In his sole on-screen appearance, he tried to cheer Pim up with a dance, however this only bewildered Pim more, and caused Charlie to walk away in annoyance. He also seems to have been a Democrat, judging by his shirt with a Hillary Clinton presidential campaign slogan.
Relationships[]
Smormu did not seem to have any known relationships with anyone, only actively referring to Pim by name.
Role in series[]
Smormu's first appearance in the series was at the end of "Mr. Frog," where he appears on the thumbnail of a video titled "I was ROBBED in PARIS". The channel name is SMORMUS, indicating that he has a YouTube channel with a fair amount of viewers per video.
He appears again in the cold opening to "Shrimp's Odyssey," as a poll to if he should be added to the show. This poll seemed to be heavily rigged in Smormu's Favor.
His third appearance was at the end of the episode. After Shrimp hooks up with Jennifer, Smormu runs in and dances in an attempt to cheer Pim up as the narrator cheerfully announces that Smormu is now a part of the cast, stating "This cannot be undone!" The episode's "In Loving Memory" card later revealed that Smormu is dead however some people think Charlie killed him or it could be blunt force trauma.

- The song that Smormu sings is a variation of what is known as the "Arabian Riff", or "the shake charmer song" which were referenced multiple times on OneyPlays, a YouTube series Zach Hadel frequents.
- It has been implied that Smormu was created to poke fun at characters such as Scrappy-Doo (Scooby-Doo) and Cousin Oliver (The Brady Bunch), both being created with the intention of boosting their respective shows ratings to save them from being cancelled.
- Unlike the other "In Loving Memory" cards (in which the deceased are shown more favourably), instead of using a picture of him when he was alive, it is shown a photo of his bruised corpse lying in an autopsy table.
- According to the displayed election results, Smormu very slightly won the popular vote, but very slightly lost the electoral vote. This is the same result received by the Clinton 2016 presidential campaign, whose shirt Smormu is wearing.
- Smormu is named after the 39th U.S. president, Jimmy Carter.
- According to the episode commentary, he was originally the same size as Charlie, but due to a mistake he was made the same size as Pim. He was kept this way because it was considered funnier.[1]
