The third season of Smiling Friends was announced to be greenlit on June 13, 2024.[4] On April 23, 2025, it was announced that a work-in-progress of the season would be screened at the 2025 Annecy International Animation Film Festival in the presence of Michael Cusack and Zach Hadel.[5] [6]

The season premiered on Adult Swim on October 5, 2025 and was added to HBO Max the next day.[7]

Season Synopsis

"Season Three of Smiling Friends finds Pim, Charlie, Flint, and the whole gang going absolutely bonkers once again, diving headfirst into their ultimate quest to spread joy upon the land. We'll see a bunch of unexpected stuff here, such as Mr. Frog running full speed at the camera, the team finally collecting all the spirit gems they need, and a totally epic showdown spectacle with an Ancient Witch of some sort. AHHHHH!!!!" [8]

Season Overview

Information regarding Season 3 was unveiled at Annecy 2025:[9]

  • The first episode guest stars Conner O'Malley as Silly Samuel, a man who suffers due to his ridiculous appearance. [10]
  • The Christmas special focuses on a character that "needs more attention".
  • Mr. Frog will be returning.[11]
  • Much like the previous seasons, new animation mediums will be experimented with.
  • Starting from this season, each season would have at least 10 episodes.[12]
    • Despite Adult Swim only advertising eight episodes in the season and news sites claiming that "The Glep Ep" is the season three finale,[13][14] it was eventually discovered that there were in fact two additional episodes produced for the season.[15][16] The titles of these episodes were also revealed by accident on an episode list on Warner TV Germany's Smiling Friends page.[17][18]
    • Ten episodes were also listed on the EIDR copyright registry before they were eventually delisted.[19]

  • This is the first season where every episode is directed by one person, in this case David Hootselle.
  • This is the first season to have ten episodes.
  • Much like Season One, this season mentions a cut character who never appeared in this show.
