History[]
Mip lived in the Enchanted Forest for some time before rescuing Charlie and Pim from being cooked and eaten by a witch. Upon learning it was Charlie and Pim's assignment to make the Enchanted Forest's Princess smile for a royal portrait, Mip mentioned it was his quest to find a hero worthy enough to deliver a package for her. Charlie and Pim joined Mip on a journey to the royal castle, during which Mip offered Charlie a mysterious green potion to cure his headache brought on from earlier.
After removing a splinter from a tree monster, Mip declared Charlie a hero. Charlie was rewarded a sword by the tree monster and eventually became a renown, armor-clad warrior after completing several quests with Mip. Pim grew increasingly jealous of Mip, adopting a pale, Gollum-like appearance. During an argument with Charlie upon nearing the castle, Mip was scared off. Charlie joined Mip by a campfire and assured him he wasn't the cause of Pim's behavior. In turn, Mip declared that Charlie was the hero worthy to deliver his package to the Princess.
At night, Pim attempted to steal Mip's package to finish the quest himself, believing he earned it — after years of never being allowed to go to the Enchanted Forest — but woke Charlie. The Smiling Friends fought for the package before accidentally knocking Mip backward and impaling him on a spear. As he died, Mip realized Pim was the one worthy of completing the quest, stating that he didn't want to interfere with Charlie and Pim's friendship. He then shrieks horrifically and melts into goo, much to Charlie and Pim's surprise.
After apologizing to each other, Charlie and Pim resolved to complete the quest together in Mip's memory. By morning, they meet the Princess in the royal castle and hand her Mip's package. The Princess reveals that Mip was the reason all along why she couldn't smile: he was her stalker. This news shocked Charlie and Pim and the Princess explained that she blocked him on all social media and moved twice because of Mip. The Princess opened the package and saw that it contained a live bomb — to Charlie and Pim's horror — and she threw it out of the window seconds before detonation. Charlie and Pim confirmed to the Princess that Mip had died, allowing her to smile again.
Sometime later, it is shown that Mip's potion had made Charlie grimly ill.
Trivia[]
- Mip is animated in 1970s-style traditional animation similar to the The Hobbit film by Rankin/Bass Animated Entertainment.
- Mip is also extremely close in appearance to Bilbo Baggins from the same film.
- Harry Partridge served as the lead animator for Mip.
- Mip's name is "Pim" spelled backwards.
- Mip's hidden stalker personality and goal to kill the Princess with a bomb are likely a reference to Ricardo López, better known as "The Björk Stalker" a man who in 1996 attempted to kill Icelandic singer, songwriter Björk by sending a bomb to her and then recorded himself committing suicide by gunshot to the mouth. Zach Hadel had mentioned López several times on the SleepyCabin podcast and OneyPlays.
- Mip melting into sludge upon death may mean he might have not been a hobbit all along.
