Jombo is a character in Smiling Friends who makes his only appearance in "Erm, the Boss Finds Love?" He appears at Mr. Boss's wedding as a guest, where he befriends Charlie.

Appearance[]

Jombo is a pale green, short critter with a large, hooked nose, a skinny neck, and a bulbous head. He has slanted eyes, and warts and small hairs all across his body. He wears a grey suit with a black tie, white dress shirt, and black shoes.

Personality[]

Not much can be garnered about Jombo's personality, other than that he is deceptive, exploiting Charlie's vulnerability while drunk to scam him by selling a fake knife for $600. He can also only speak in mumbled gibberish. Additionally, he is perverse, as he was seen masturbating during Mr. Boss's wedding.

Jombo is also skilled at covering his tracks as he deleted all of his internet accounts and relocated to New Jersey with no plausible means of following him after scamming Charlie out of $600.

Role in episode[]

At Mr. Boss's wedding, Charlie appears drunk as he stumbles in and introduces Jombo, another guest, to the Smiling Friends. He suggests to the others that Jombo should be the fifth Smiling Friend after asking Jombo to share his "funny story," which turns out to be unintelligible mumbling. Charlie shows Pim the knife that Jombo sold him, causing Pim to feel uncomfortable. Later, Jombo is seen with his hands in his pants while the newlyweds kiss.

After learning that Brittney's blood needs to be drained in order to kill her and save Mr. Boss, they realize they can use Jombo's knife for the task, claiming that Jombo "came through." However, when they attempt to stab her, they find out that it is a plastic retractable gag knife. Charlie then reveals that Jombo had sold him the knife for $600 before deleting everything and moving to New Jersey.

Trivia[]

  • His existence was previously alluded to in an interview released shortly before Season 2's premiere. He is erroneously referred to as "Zongo" by Zach Hadel during the interview and on press releases for Season 2.
  • Jombo's animation was provided by Aaron Long, who also animated drunk Charlie in the same scene. Originally, he was to wildly move his arms around while telling his story.
  • When Mr. Boss and Brittney are making out, Jombo can be seen with his right hand down his pants. It can be assumed he was "zerkin' it" to Brittney's figure.
