Smiling Friends Wiki

Jason Peanutcritter[2] is one of the 3 businessmen hired by Mr. Boss to help him in the episode Frowning Friends. He is most likely based on the character of the same name, who is the mascot of the peanut brand Planters.

Appearance[]

Body[]

Though based on the Planters Peanut mascot, Mr. Peanutcritter in the show seems to more so resemble a regular Critter than an anthropomorphic peanut. He has faded yellow skin, aging spots on his head and groin, bulging veins, large eyes, a wrinkly face, long nose and thin limbs.

Attire[]

In the episode Frowning Friends, he is shown wearing a tall, dark purple top hat with a white stripe, along with a matching dark purple suit jacket, a white undershirt and a large pink bowtie. He noticeably does not wear pants. He also appears to wear half of a pair of eyeglasses, somewhat resembling the real life mascot's monocle.

Role in Series[]

Frowning Friends[]

In his first and only appearance, Mr. Peanutcritter is summoned into Mr. Boss's office to discuss ways to gain back profits after the new business Frowning Friends, Inc. has resulted in the company losing $2.4 billion.

Mr. Peanutcritter brings up that when it was exposed that his company was filling its peanuts with toxic pesticides, as a PR stunt he went on the Dick Cavett Show and performed a "Peanut Jig", where he extended his arms forward rapidly. Though realistically this would be a horrible strategy to remedy a scandal that could have the potential of killing several people, it must have worked since Mr. Peanutcritter recommends this strategy Mr. Boss. However, Mr. Boss doesn't think this would work at all and rudely dismisses him from his office, along with Ronald Reagan and Warren Buffett.

Personality[]

Mr. Peanutcritter appears to be quite psychotic. He seems to have no remorse for the potential deaths he could have (or did) cause. Though it is unknown if anyone was killed from the pesticides laced in his peanuts, the fact that he responded by performing a Peanut Jig on live TV shows that he will do anything to blow scandals under the rug.

Toxic Peanut Scandal[]

In an unknown year, presumably in the mid to late 20th century, there was a scandal with Mr. Peanutcritter's company where it was exposed that toxic pesiticide chemicals were found laced inside his peanut products. Though there are no confirmed deaths, one fan theory links Charlie's grandma as a potential victim, since she is confirmed to have died from consuming a bad peanut. But whether this is due to the peanut being artificially poisoned or being spoiled is unknown.
