Plot[]
The episode starts with Charlie showing the other Smiling Friends a claymation horror film, much to the others’ delight - especially Mr Boss’. Allan walks in and asks the guys what to eat and Pim attempts to suggest pizza numerous times only for the others to ignore him. They’re interrupted by a green witch begging for money, and whilst Pim initially offers to give her some change, Charlie and Mr Boss interrupt him once more and shoo her away. They head back inside only for Charlie to suggest they order pizza, much to Pim’s annoyance and the others’ praise. They’re interrupted by the lights going out, with Mr. Boss grabbing Pim and taking him to fix the breaker, while Charlie and Allan notice Glep convulsing on the floor.
Pim and Mr Boss have a one-sided discussion on how nobody listens to the former, before they discover the electric breaker but the latter is electrocuted when he attempts to flip the switch. Back in the lobby, the possessed Glep attacks Charlie and Allan, though they manage to fend him off with a broom and tie him to the table. Charlie attempts to exorcise him with a cross just like how his uncle taught him only for Glep to hurl black bile onto his face. Pim wakes Mr. Boss up, only for him to notice an apparition of his mother’s ghost beckoning him. He leaves Pim on his own as a siren blares, while Charlie runs to the sink and noticed his entire body is melting. Mr Boss arrives in a library only for his mother’s ghost to yell at him for selling her stuff and putting her in a nursing home. She withers into a skeleton in front of him, only to be attacked by him from behind.
Now alone, Pim encounters Allan and is thankful to notice he’s fine. Allan remarks he must be the only person to not be cursed, only for Pim to notice he’s now a spider. Allan insists he’s always been like this, before falling on his back and giving birth to a hoard of baby spiders. Pim tries to flee, encountering monsters all throughout the building and manages to fall into a void where images of the others laughing at him enter his mind. He lands in a bathtub only to be scared by another monster, causing another chase where he manages to get to the main entrance, only for it to lead to the void. The melting Charlie catches up and yells at Pim, accusing him of being the sole cause of the curse. Pim corrects him by pointing out how he was the only one to actually try and give money to the witch, but he’s ignored once more. As his frustrations grow, more spirits egg him on into taking revenge, until he finally snaps and chokes out Charlie. Pim then goes on a murder spree, killing the other members of the smiling friends (including the elusive blue Janitor) only for him to get trapped by the collapsing building.
However, It’s all revealed that the episode’s events post-witch rejection were all a vision projected by her magical crystal ball. She then tells the Smiling Friends that this is what would happen if she doesn't receive any money in donation. But seeing as she just threatened his employees, Mr. Boss puts her into a chokehold. He lets her go when she taps out, and Charlie comments how he can’t believe Pim managed to kill him inside the orb - though he understands Pim’s reasonings since he was being uncharacteristically mean to him earlier. Pim remarks how it doesn’t really matter since it was all in the orb but he’s glad Charlie acknowledged his feelings. He then says he’s glad that everything is back to normal, only for Spider Allan to appear with the pizzas. A winged skeleton appears on screen and Mr Boss proceeds to kill it, with Charlie commenting about how tacky that was. A car suddenly runs over the Spider Allan, with the real one walking outside to ask who he was. As soon as Charlie says he doesn’t know, a convoy of cars begin to run Mr Boss over, forcing the others to run inside as the episode ends.
Not until a cheap skeleton jumpscare pops up right at the end.
A post credits scene shows a man sitting home alone only to see the witch, now crying, enter his house. The man (now revealed to be the witch’s partner) comforts her and tells her she’s safe, only to ask if she’s still down for her to give him head later tonight. Realizing that the witch is seriously upset, he disregards his earlier selfish thought and instead continues to comfort her.

Trivia[]
General[]
- The original title of this episode was "The Smiling Friends Get Cursed".[4]
- Stop-motion animator Lee Hardcastle animated the horror movie the Smiling Friends watch at the beginning of the episode, as evident by his name appearing in the movie's credits.
- Much like how the fourth episode in prior seasons were all Halloween-themed, this episode is Halloween-themed as well.
- Unlike the other episodes where they aired off-season during the winter or summer, this episode actually airs during the autumn season and only two days after Halloween.
- This is possibly a reference to how certain Halloween specials on TV shows (The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror) sometimes wind up airing in November.
- This marks the first time the series has taken a hiatus during regular airing of a season. This was likely done either to air the episode as close to Halloween as possible or to give leeway for the guest animators or as a mere joke.
- Previous gaps in-between episodes were due to episodes premiering early as an April Fools' stunt ("Desmond's Big Day Out" and "Gwimbly: Definitive Remastered Enhanced Extended Edition DX 4K (Anniversary Director’s Cut)") and for an out of season special.
- The Blue Janitor Dude makes his first appearance in the series.
Episode connections[]
- Pim's family members from "Desmond's Big Day Out" reappear as Spider Allan's victims.
Cultural References[]
- The overall premise of this episode appears to satirize "lost episode" Creepypastas as it includes several familiar tropes including extreme gore, the main character going insane, and characterizations being off.
- When Charlie tries to exorcise Glep from demonic possession, he chants "the power of Christ compels you," referencing the 1973 horror film The Exorcist.
- Charlie's face melting off in the bathroom sink is a homage to the 1982 film Poltergeist.
- A creature inside a jar in the Smiling Friends office resembles Adam's embryonic form from Neon Genesis Evangelion.
- Pyramid Head, a recurring character from the Silent Hill series appears in the monster-filled hallway Pim runs through. Konami is credited in the episode.
- Pim snapping Glep's jaw is a reference to the way King Kong breaks the jaw of a T-Rex in the 2005 film King Kong
- Mr. Boss gouging his eyes out is a reference to the 1997 film Event Horizon.
- The jumpscare at the end of the episode may be a reference to the infamous Creepypasta "And Then A Skeleton Popped Out".
Goofs/Errors[]
- There are several inconsistencies between the Witch's introduction and the orb reveal:
- Spider Allan delivers the pizzas the group ordered. In the orb hypothetical, they ordered the food after slamming the door on the Witch.
- It is possible they ordered food while watching the crystal ball, though that seems unlikely.
- It is raining outside when the Witch first appears. When the reveal occurs, it is no longer raining out.
- In the original Season 3 trailer, it is shown raining when the cars hit Mr. Boss and Spider Allan.
- Mr. Boss is no longer seen holding a baseball bat when the reveal occurs.
- Spider Allan delivers the pizzas the group ordered. In the orb hypothetical, they ordered the food after slamming the door on the Witch.
