Smiling Friends Wiki

He loves his cars, he loves his cars.

Charlie's uncle is a minor unseen character and a running gag in Smiling Friends. Despite never making a physical appearance, he is mentioned a few times by his nephew Charlie, starting with the episode "Mr. Frog."

Overview[]

Charlie's uncle often gets into major car accidents, presumably due to his fondness of cars and alcoholism, as Charlie nonchalantly mentions that he "loves his cars." Charlie explains in "Mr. Frog" that his uncle killed an entire family in a gruesome drunk driving accident, after which he gave them a huge check that successfully smoothed things over. In the same episode, Charlie also mentions that his uncle rammed his car into a crowd of people on a separate occasion, but had to take sleeping pills in order to sleep at night, likely due to the guilt.

In "Erm, the Boss Finds Love?", Charlie mentions that he is holding onto Tara the Android for his uncle until he gets out of the hospital.

In "Charlie, Pim, and Bill vs the Alien", Charlie mentions that his uncle used to play a theremin when he was in his band The Red Gapers.

In "Pim Finally Turns Green", Charlie gets his uncle to call Bill Nye in order to teach Rotten that death is nothing to be afraid of, implying that Charlie's uncle has major connections.

In “Curse of the Green Halloween Witch” Charlie reveals his uncle taught him how to exorcise demons which he attempts to use on a possessed Glep to little success.

Despite his wrongdoings, Charlie seems to be on good terms with his uncle, talking about his atrocities endearingly and calling him when he needs assistance.

It's worth noting that it's never made clear if Charlie is always mentioning the same uncle each time, as he could possibly have several uncles. Although due to it being a running gag it’s likely the same uncle.
